Philippians 2:19–30
Friendship, Humility, and Service

Do you have friends at church? Not just acquaintances, but deep abiding friendships. In Christ, we are friends with God and are called to be friends with each other. Jesus himself said that "Greater love has no one than this, that a person will lay down his life for his friends." He said that to indicate the kind of love he had for his disciples, his friends. We are to have the same love for those around us, especially those who labor alongside us in Christ. How do we this? How do we foster deep abiding friendships? How does the church grow? Through loving humble service to one another. Paul gives us two examples of this humble and loving service in Timothy and Epaphroditus. Let us be like them in our concern and care for the saints and in our pursuit of becoming like Jesus.
